Now I'm sure you'll agree with me that these items should be listed keyrings and not novelty bank notes
No idea, I don't normally look for them nowadays as when I did it just wound me up and it's simply not worth it.

Also some sellers used to hide them in regards to what you search

Seeing all the other knives listed on the site has given me a little hope so I am hanging in there for the moment until Gary tells me otherwise .
I will not be listing my full inventory until this is sorted out .!

it would appear that kitchen knife, craft knife and pen knife is still permitted- so much for blanket ban

so eBid are now making a rod for their own back by contrdicting themselves, although the definition of cutlery is

Cutlery refers to any hand implement used in preparing, serving, and especially eating food in the Western world. It is more usually known as silverware or flatware in the United States, where cutlery can have the more specific meaning of knives and other cutting instruments. This is probably the original meaning of the word. Since silverware suggests the presence of silver, the term tableware has come into use. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cutlery

So even if it's a hunting knife, then thats for food preparation.

I just wish admin the best of luck as they don't know how to apply the rule one day from the next.

    .
eBid are dealing with more than one set of Laws/rules here.

For instance many of the knives that used to be listed in the hunting fishing etc categories by US & Canadian members were illegal to sell to anybody in the UK, age didn't come into it, although perfectly legal in their own countries.
Unfortunately many of the sellers were unaware of, or chose to ignore UK Law & made their items available here.

You then had those that were deliberately breaking the rules by listing illegal items in the wrong category to try & get around the law.

Then there are things like Craft & Cooking Knives that are covered by the Age restrictions, & can require proof of age to be shown in a B & M shop. I bought a stanley type knife last week in Tesco's, it wouldn't let me process it through the automated till (the only type open at 4 in the morning) without a member of staff authorising it.

    &
    Laws.
These Terms of Service shall be governed by and constructed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and any disputes will be decided only by the Courts of England and Wales.
so in effect you state you are 18.

Unfortunately lots of adults seem to let their children have unsupervised access to all sorts of accounts online.

Trading Standards run "sting" operations for all types of things these days, & apparently the fines can be hefty.

So we really need to find a way to allow sellers of all LEGAL over 18 goods to trade whilst protecting them, from under age buyers, instead of imposing more & more restrictions on what can & cannot be sold.

I agree with what you say Gothicina, but admin need to give clear email replies & not contradicting ones. Surely it would be in their best interest.

Anyway as I don't sell knives (although I could list professional filling knifes) I simply hope that knives are kept out of under 18's reach. Although I hope that what ever the bad minority can use in a crime are not going to restrict genuine sellers further. After all I suspect that most items can harm if not used for their purpose.
