    Thumbs up Promoting eBid

    Hi All.

I may not trade here yet (No I have never traded on eb either) but read these forums often!

You guys could promote eBid in many cheap ways - yes OK these will cost you as an individual a little but the costs should bring rewards, in so much as if YOU promote eBid (just as you would if you had any other business - those of you with stores or just 1 auction.)

Cars / Vans - my guess is that 98% of you own one or there is more than one in your family?
    1. Get www.eBid.net put on the back / boot - cost approx £8-15
Just think how many people will see that!

    2. Advertise your store www.eBid.net/... then your link - in local places
like the local store notice board / Somerfield / Sainsbury's etc, these all
    have "Free" notice boards.

    3. On every envelope you post, yes even to the bank / utilities / xmas cards
    etc, type or write www.eBid.net

    4. Freeads newspaper - stick your store or items for sale in there
    Local magazines / papers

    5. I have just sponsored a local girl’s football team tracksuit - on the back
    I have my company details.
Cost me £55 for the year - they play 35 games across the county
    (That’s £1.57 per match)
    www.eBid.net
    "Your store name"

    6. Magnetic signs for car - these cost approx £15 for a 1ft square
Have your store details put on it!

I'm sure you people can come up with other cost effective marketing?
BUT one thing is for sure - the vast majority of marketing is costly!!

your store - your business - so why not promote your own eBid store & bring in extra views which will bring benefits in the extra bids intime.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and welcome to eBid. I think, though, that you must not have read all of the forums, as all of the above have already been discussed in some depth.

    Hi Spanishvillas,
Thanks for the ideas. I particularly like No. 3. Sometimes the cheapest and easiest to implement ideas are forgotten!

It's interesting that there seem to be quite a few people who visit the forums for the sake of the forums. The eBid forums must be a very interesting place to "hang out" - maybe the forums are a selling point in themselves!

I did try that in Morrisons but they were taken down because it was regarded as a business link.Mind you that was a couple of years ago so I might try it again with a lower profile.

I think the main problem with advertising printed links to stores rather than just eBid in general is the length of the links.I have printed out flyers & have posters in my car but it's too long for people to remember or bother to write down.
A thread was started in August but there doesn't seem to have been any progress from eBid.A good web url for me would be,
    www.ebid.co.uk/GRALINS-EMPORIUM-AND-JUNK-SHOP .
    or even www.ebid.net/GRALINS-EMPORIUM-AND-JUNK-SHOP
Unfortunately this option is not available through eBid.
How many potential buyers are going to bother to write down this? http://uk.ten.ebid.net/stores/GRALIN...-AND-JUNK-SHOP .They certainly won't remember it!
It wouldn't be so bad if you had a search option from www.ebid.co.uk or www.ebid.net but you haven't

For something like £5.20 for 2 years you could purchase the domain name www.gralins-emporium-and-junk-shop.co.uk or a variation of that & point it at your store.
That's what I've done for some of mine.
    www.gothicinas-web.co.uk
    www.kewtonia-books.co.uk
I got mine from 123 reg.

I did consider that & may still do.The point I was trying to make was that eBid could make it easier for sellers by having a shorter/tidier url for stores.

    Thanks Spanish villas.
Number 1. Since receiving my ebid window sticker i've been doing that- although the stickers would have worked much better printed on white rather than clear!

Number 3. I got some great EBID stickers from Gothicas store which i place on my envelopes. and EBID parceltape from Toycrazyuk s store.

I have just had a little idea! I have entered a photo competition http://www.itsmymarket.com/photos/?photocomp=30 to try and drum up some sales and I have been adding tags to my photos such as crowlascrafts so that if enough people pop that into the search box it will show up in bold larger type in the words most used search box.

The idea: If everyone is to go onto the site and type in eBid to this box - eBid will show up in the 'most searched words' box on the front page of this competition.

As the competition only has 12 days to run, I think there maybe quite a few views of this page and it could prove to be a little free advertising!
