even though the CC has indicated changes they don't see why they have to.

I guess lots of charitable groups can't find their way onto Feebays list.

It would be nice to have somewhere that supports the smaller groups...
Now that first bit's really interesting because registered charities are not allowed to "permanently trade".....it's in the instructions from the CC re: adopting a constitution.
That's why all they all have "trading arms".....which donate all their profit to the main charity.
Admittedly it all gets a bit woolly....but the accounts are kept well apart.

But anyways, that's just typical bully boy tactics from feebay...don't you think? To be honest, i'm not impressed with what I see over there.....too many individuals "donating 10%" to the "charity" (yeah...& i'm the Queen of Sheeba)

I know what you mean about smaller charitable causes though, fundraising is damned hard work.

Send me a pm pls...what you do...what you need etc.
U never know who I know iykwim

    Pleeze can I have

Auctions for Charity ; Hospices ; St. Cuthbert's, Durham

    Thankyou

ps. Could you let me know if it isn't going to happen......I would like to start listing (somewhere)

    Cheers
    Hi Yvonne,
I'm still confused as to why you need a category just for your specific Hospice?
Surely Madelaine's idea of a charity logo & then listing in the correct category for your item would get your items a wider audience, you could always add Auctions for Charity: Hospices as a second category to your listings if you wanted to, your shop could be located there anyway.

With your way, every Hospice would have it's own category, wouldn't a division of Adult Hospice & Children's Hospice be enough?

Would you also want every RSPCA branch to be be listed separately, each Dogs Trust, Cats Protection, Air Ambulance, ect ect? Surely that's way too many categories?

By all means ask the guys to split them later if the categories get too full.

I'd prefer to see, Madelaine's idea of a charity flag/logo
    & the categories.

Every single charity can have its own category - it's called a shop! My shop is Justpurrfect Trading. I try to move items out of the charity category on a regular basis so what is in there is different each time someone visits but I'm not quite organised enough about it. I would like to say that people are very generous when buying charity items both here and on ebay (I sell there too and if people have the charity ribbon and say they donate 10% to the charity then Missionfish give them no choice. It happens automatically!). I have, inevitably, made more on ebay than on here but my total for last year over the three sites where I sell was £1335.58 - all from donated items.

I agree...what I like about Ebid is that I can have a shop for each one and direct people straight there. I have links on the groups websites etc that bring peeps straight to the shops.

E**y is a no goer for charities like us that are small and can't be registered...the fees are too high to justify listing donated items there.

Think we're all agreed on the "charity marker"

The reasoning behind adding the hospice name, was via researching other categories around the site (some of which are fragmented to the nth degree & have nothing in them) & following the same format. I'd be happy with only hospices.... but I think the worst thing would be to see any category there, just for the sake of, with nothing in it.

I'd love to see the whole charity category just grow & grow, but that's just wishfull thinking.

Think I would have made less work for myself if i'd just hired a market stall for the hospice's wares...but that won't help them decide wether or not to sign up for their own membership iykwim.

Will wait & see what happens

    Default charitable auctions?

hello. I'm new to eBid, and have a question for you. when listing an item for sale or auction, is there an option to have the money go directly to a charity of my choosing? am I missing something when filling out the details for my items? I'd like to sell items to benefit the Scleroderma Foundation. many thanks for reading this! slappybeans

    Hi Slappybeans & welcome aboard.

At the moment, there's no direct way for Charities to receive direct payment from your auctions. We fundraisers, collect money in, then forward it on.

All I can offer is a few ideas that I use myself.

Let your chosen charity know what you are doing & send them a link to your auctions.

Put as much information as you can into the auction, even a link to their website is useful.

I also include my previous months receipt...just for good measure.

This is one of my current auctions, hope it helps.

Hello there , Can I ask a question without hurting any one's feeling , without standing on toes , without casting doubt.....
would it not be possible to have the site run a charity thing or as someone said " We fundraisers " cant you run a site that sells and takes in the money , then forwards it to several charities , on a rotating cycle ????
or how ever you want to share it....the small charities are the one who loose out on the majority of these things.....so if they got a share now and again...great....when you see list like this....it is not easy...and I would not even attempt it,,,but I wish you well however you do it....
