    Question New Charity Category Please

    Evenin Chaps

Just thinking the Charity Category is looking a bit bare (zero listings are a bit of a poor impression)

Could you delete "Children in Need" please (don't think anyone is going to use it now)

    & Add
    Charities; Hospices;St. Cuthberts, Durham

    Cheers

If that's going to happen, could we have categories for various types of charity, please?

Personally, I would prefer charity auctions to have a (searchable) flag on them,so they live in their proper item category, but can be found by those wanting to support charity with their purchases.

Yes, it seems quite a shame, considering all the charitable good work that goes on. & they are all lumped together as "other".

Some "high end" divisions (when they were needed)ie: elderly, animals, overseas, children etc., I believe would be of benefit to the site as a whole.
First impressions count, and to be seen to be caring & supportive of Charities, would be an immediate confidence boost to potential members.

Just my thoughts.....will wait & see.

I agree. "Other" makes it look as if they are unimportant.

As things stand, my charity id gets a reasonable number of sales to newbies. I think they want some feedback and find something they quite fancy so buy it. So "other" isn't too bad!

    Thanks Gazza...much appreciated.

ok peeps, I know we have a few ardent fundraisers on the site. There is a broadly recognised "overview" of Charities:

    Animals:
    Armed / Rescue Services:
    Cancer:
    Children:
    Disability:
    Elderly:
    Hospices: St. Cuthbert's, Durham
    Minority Groups:
    Other:
    Overseas / International:
    Sensory Loss:
    Social Care:
    Special Events:

In an effort to keep this thread nice & tidy, if you think a "top level" category has been missed (if yours dosn't fit in anywhere), please pm me & i'll edit this section.

Likewise for the subsequent sub categories you would like.

Hopefully this will save Gazza from getting numerous individual requests if we can present it as an organised plan.

Please only ask for sections that you will actually use.
Don't think anyone wants to see a long list with "0" auctions.

    Over to you folks!

Maybe you should add TV-Seasonal & Special Events to replace your Children in Need, that would cover both Children in Need & Comic Relief, but leave room for something like Live Aid ect

The only problem I can see is making sure the categories fit all the sites. Overseas to people in the UK, is pretty different to Overseas to people in the US.

As you have that recognised broad outline maybe an idea where each of the charities fit into it generally, say for instance Macmillan, or Marie Curie?
In my area they both work together & Macmillan are based in the local Hospice.

Until there are lots of auctions should there be too many sub categories?
