Thread: Hot Toys and Gadgets for Christmas (sorry for thinking about Christmas so early!)

  1. #1

Lightbulb Hot Toys and Gadgets for Christmas (sorry for thinking about Christmas so early!)

What do YOU think will be the hot sellers over Christmas? There always seems to be something that goes out of stock everywhere that people are desparate to get hold of!

We need to make sure that when people search for popular Christmas lines on this website, that we do have listings for them (and cheaper ones than some other places ;-p). Sometimes, you can buy a '3 for 2' in the shops and sell them on.

So, if there are things you have seen which you think will be popular this Christmas, please list them here, to give us ideas about what to sell.

So far, I have seen funkeys:

    http://www.ubfunkeys.com/

and I've seen a load of novelty USB gadgets like retro vacuum cleaner, whack a mole, putting.

Default What's on your Christmas list?

It's never too early to start planning ahead I only wish I knew the answers to the big questions on everyones' lips. Come on, you know the ones! 'How can I make money on eBid? What can I sell? What will people buy? Like it or not, sellers want to capitalise on prime events and Christmas is the prime event in many people's year . OK, let's start with ... bibles? Did a quick search - not a great selection.
Next up, the 'I want...' factor that can give it all away.

Little kids - what's all the rage in nursery and on junior television?

School kids - ask them, or, better still, watch the ads, read the ads, listen to the ads and then you'll find out which ones work when the kids start to say, 'I want...' or, if you are fortunate enough, 'I would like...'

Teenagers & young adults - who is hot and who is not? What is hot and what is not? Health, beauty, cars, fashion, fitness, friends, phones and nightlife, including gaming & music.

Big kids; we never grow up, we just grow old, pretend to be sensible, responsible and wise, and then revert to childhood, so what gadgets are all the big kids playing with this year? Ask them!

And let's not forget the obvious gifts - slippers, scarf & gloves sets, nightwear, underwear, socks, chocolates, jewellery, toiletries, fashion accessories, perfume, cosmetics, traditional games, music, films, books...

Is Harry Potter still going to be 'in' for Christmas? Did a quick search, found about 100 listings, not a great selection.

Whatever it is people want, at Christmas time, especially, they want BNIB or BNWT (brand new in box or brand new with tags), unless it's a rare find for an avid collector or fan of 'whatever'. If they are buying it here, it will be because they found what they were looking for at a price that is comparable with the high street or other online stores and we need to take into account the P&P costs, as many big stores offer free delivery as an extra bonus to customers. It's either that or... we offer items that are available exclusively through our eBid stores and, in writing all of this, I have just worked out what I am going to list that you won't get anywhere else other than eBid - and it isn't the WillItFit

Default How's the research coming along?

Just had a read through the UK's first 'Culture Chart' and guess what!?? No Harry Potter!

Culture Chart - unit sales in January - June 2007

    1. Casino Royale DVD
    2. The Queen DVD
    3. Happy Feet DVD
    4. Hot Fuzz DVD
    5. Night at the Museum DVD
    6. Borat DVD
    7. Back to Black - Amy Winehouse - album
    8. The Devil Wears Prada DVD
    9. Now That's What I Call Music 66 compilation album
    10. The Interpretation of Murder book by Jed Rubenfeld
    11. Beautiful World album by Take That
    12. Life in Cartoon Motion album by Mika
    13. Flushed Away DVD
    14. The Departed DVD
    15. Anybody Out There? book by Marian Keyes

Keep in mind that the above is only for the first 6 months of 2007, but we can, perhaps, learn something from it that could contribute to forecasting the next 'big' sales.

Umm... I don't think you are supposed to link directly to items that are for sale on other sites.

Don't think that's allowed either as promoting eBid is about promoting only eBid as the source of sales. We want buyers coming here to find the bargains and buy them, not finding info of where else they can go, if you see what I mean. You'll soon get the hang of it, it took me years LOL

According to a newsletter that I get you should be listing your Christmas items now. They say that people start looking and buying items online in September.

I agree, I've spoken to loads of Christmas shoppers this past week. asking them what they are buying!! LOL It's amazing how many people reply with the same answer... "I'm looking for something unusual."
