Guy's just a quick note, I am moving over from Feebay and list in a smaller fields, Discoworld books and SLG comics, but I have the patience to sit and wait, I am sure Ebid will get there, the amount of deserters from the dark side is increasing daily and if we all plug Ebid as much as possible then it's bound to rocket away at some point in the near future.

Ebid, You know it makes sense :-)

I agree. The dark side was created by its sellers by word of mouth, we can do it again.

Just a thought - If I was getting 100 hits in a week on an auction and no bids, I would be wondering what I had done wrong (price?, description?, about Me page?) - not what was wrong with the site.

klj It may be that nobody is doing anything wrong, it's just people tend to stick to what they know, we just need to educate people into understanding that Ebid is here to stay, with trusted sellers, similar features and a bright future. At the end of the day if your price is what you want to sell at (and fair) shipping/packing is reasonable and your about me page is upto date then it all comes down to patience. As that gormless plonker in Field Of Dreams said "Build it and they will come" (Just how quickly is anyone's guess :-)

klj - I have to agree with officeboy. Book buying customers are stuck looking at the large pure book listing sites where many many millions of books are offered (here we have only about 150,000 so far). They are not even aware of eBid and similar alternatives and book buying may never catch on here. I would Not blame the seller if he gets lots of hits but no buys, because it is my opinion (I may be wrong) that that is currently par for the course at eBid. If serious eBay book people move over here, then things might pick up. It is difficult to get people away from the established sites that they think they trust, very difficult. Patience will be require for sure.

Officeboy and Hartmann - I agree with both of you and the points you made. For me it's a matter of what am I doing wrong.
And I see book buyers searching Google now for books. There are alot of sites for them, it's easier, and auctions here are beginning to show up in those searches. So for me it's worth seeing what happens here.
For book sellers in general, I think there is some good advice on this forum. Especially for new sellers - let people know about your listings here, and find something to buy so you have some feedback. Serious buyers want to see serious sellers. Looks to me like the under 2.50 books are what are selling first. Not much risk there, maybe? But don't think those buyers are also looking at all the vintage and collectible books - so someone may be looking and not happy with the terms, price, seller, etc. To me it's always worth considering what would make a difference.
