Yes I think so. When you have tens or even hundreds of related items it's impractical to link them to each other.

    It's called "companion sales".
You don't just link similar items, but items that could be bought together.

    Some examples:

if you sold shaving brushes, you might also link to razors, strops, shaving soap, shaving cups and so on.

With computers you might link a new DVD recorder with some blank DVDs and the ribbon cable to connect it.

Books go with book marks, page protectors, book ends, reading lights and so on.

With many items you might find that you don't sell a companion to it. If you aren't considering doing so, then you could always link up with one or more eBid sellers who do, and cross-promote the auctions of your partner/s.

    Hiya,
And does this cross-promotion linking technique help in search engine placement/ranking and to index pages on EBid as well?
    Thanks

Every link which ultimately leads back to your stuff is a good thing. It can mean that you stand a greater chance of someone hitting on the right keywords to find your listing. So, the more auctions that link to yours, the more keywords there are to find and the greater the chance that your stuff will be viewed.

In theory, it should help with SE ranking, but it depends on the method used by the individual search engine when it spiders.

    Anybody about?

A critique of my new auction page layout would be appreciated!

I think I've incorporated most of the information that's in the thread above.

Not to concerned about looks, just function.
