Thread: please feel to criticise me...

  1. #1

Unhappy please feel to criticise me...

i can take it on the chin. I would like the more experienced sellers to take a cursory glance over my items to see if they are at about the right price.
I sell a few bits & pieces on ebay , not a huge amount & just started here, again not selling a huge amount as it is more a buying & selling collectables hobby for me.
This is why i'm silver status which does mean I cannot use a gallery pic or use buy it now which I would like to do.
Going to the next status up will work out too expensive unless i start selling some stuff. I think i'm in a vicious circle!

I agree with merlin about the first bid. Having this means your items will not make it onto the home page.

    Hi ChangingSeasons,

I think when a lot of the searching is done it is by Time Remaining Low -> High as I think it is the default setting. When using that search items are shown in this order:

Time Remaining for those counting down
    Run Until Sold
    On First Bid

With this in mind unless they are in the "Featured, 60 Minute, Happy Hour & Frontpage Auctions" most people will never get to the "On First Bid" and in a lot of categories they will never get to the "Run Until Sold" depending on how many listings are in the category.

I suggest you do some searches in categories that would include your items and see where they are as this would give you an idea if they are down so deep people are not likely to get there.

    Hope this helps,
    Peggy

Done! I have removed the first bid on all my auctions.
    Thanks for the advice!

hee hee, i don't know, can't even get my thread title correct! It was as you might think, feel FREE to criticise, so groping is out the question, sorry Damien!
I will have to do this autorepost thing too then, as I must admit don't like the idea that if i were to get a bid, the auction would still run on for a number of days. (putting potential bidders off) I wish us silver sellers could do buy it nows.

As an auction's life-span ticks down it gets put on to the front page as a closing auction; but if it is on 1st bid it does not get this publicity.

On most auction sites many people do not bid untill the auction gets near to it's end, and if interested put a watch on the item untill then.
