Has anyone picked up a "released into the wild" book?

Going to make use of our various caravan weekends this summer to "release" a few books instead of taking them to the charity shop which is overfull to say the least with books.

Hi,although I don't personally belong, I know someone, who is part of our freecycle ( http://freecycle.org/ ) group, who does.She is always promoting it & often has stalls at various events advocating it.I don't get out enough to partake.

I placed a few around the local harbour and some sat for several days before someone picked them up!

Just registered/labelled a few paperbacks to read on holiday with me and then to 'release' somewhere

Am not a member of BookCrossing, but we picked up a stray book from a hotel lobby in Wadi Musa (Petra), Jordan, ..and released it in a hotel lobby in Tel Aviv, Israel. Have always wondered what happened to it. The book we picked up had a note inside from a lady from Spain saying to read, enjoy and pass on. It was Sue Grafton's "Q is for Quarry...and a hardcover. Oh...and in English.

So ...anyone else thinking that telling eBid members where to get hold of these books is a good idea when there are book sellers here trying to make a living?
