Smile Spreading the word about Ebid

Can I suggest that everybody adds a signature to all their emails advising people about eBid. If we all do this on all our emails, people will see eBid being mentioned every time they receive an email which should make them curious about the site. Even if only 1% of people join, this should generate new users which will help us all.

Sorry if this is the wrong catergory for this message but I couldn't think where else to put it.
Please have a look at my auctions:

Good idea, but be carefull where you use it, some forums have a ban on links to outside sites. So as long as you read the T&C's of any sites you contribute to you should be okay.

    Question

    Hello

Its been on my email sig since June, and I always ask friends to check whats on sale here before feebay......but 9/10 times they can't find it for sale or its too high (higher than feebay) or its blocked from new bidders...one item that I remember well was only £1.00...why block a newbie from buying something at a quid
Anyway a few friends have given up as they can't buy items with zero feedback and can't increase feedback as they get blocked from buying things so its a no win situation, I wonder how many others newbies have had this problem and given up
BIG SALE now on in my Bargain Shop

That's a good point... I don't think there's any point in banning newbies from bidding. If you're worried about NPB's, you can list on the free option.. then even if they don't pay you haven't lost anything.

Something I thought of, although it would be a big thing to implement so maybe something to think about for the future, was re: email signatures..

I'd really like if there could be something where you get an ebid email address. Something like, if you have a store, get an email address related to it. That way, if people used it as their sign-up address elsewhere it would be free advertising. Everyone would see a reference to your store here. Have it in the domain bit. So, Diorella24 @ ebid.stores.net. Something like that.

I don't know, someone has probably already said it, or it's too big to implement. Just something that occured.

I would never block a new bidder, we were all new once, and have to earn our feedback. the only ones I would block are people with a minus. At the fees that I get charged I can stand a few non payers, I only lose coppers, I leave them a neg and then block them. Otherwise everybody is welcome, the more the merrier

I agree.. cant see why people would block newbies... I mean really about 80% of people on here seem to have little or no feedback and all my customers have come over from ebay so have no feedback also.
I can understand why they have it as an option, but didnt think people actually used that option at this stage of the game.
I do agree with the the comment about not been able to get stuff here. I always check here first to see if i can get it, then if not reluctantly go over to feebay. I'm amazed by how many shops there are with nothing in them I'm just in the process of opening a new jewelry shop and 80% of the shops in my cat are empty . And when you look at the fees over on feebay I cant see how people can afford to make any money with shops
    Ramble over!..lol

That is another of my gripes, I think that if a shop is left empty for more than a week, it should automatically be taken off line, if someone is ill or on holiday it is easy enough to put it online again, but it must be very off putting for new buyers to see all these empty shops

I don't think the shop situation is so bad since the empty shops are only shown further down the list after the shops with active items.

Tell the truth, Crusales - that if you bid on something you are more than likely to win it and that there are bargains to be had.

Ebid is also a great place for inexpensive collectables - look at the stamp & postcard listings.
