''Amazon doesn't have all ISBNs especially foreign ones''

try going to amazon.com and putting in your ISBN there. Easiest way I've found is by clicking on 'sell your stuff' at the top of the page and it insantly takes you to the ISBN finder.

Alternatively there are links to the German, Chinese, Japanese, French etc Amazon sites on the botton of the page.

I've started adding ISBN info to eBid's own database when listing books. If we all did a few as we went along it would soon fill up. I botched up the first one, mind you, but eBid support's sorting it out for me now. A cautious word - remember to stop typing after the synopsis otherwise your actual listing will end up in the database. DOH!

    How does it work Nykmedia?

Does the ISBN code have the hyphens in or out?

Just type in as complete number without gaps or hyphens and it allows you to use their stock photo in your listings (if they have one). I'll go and add a thread in my 'plug your own auctions' thread with a link to show you what it looks like when listed. My plug thread is the Cyberdosh one

Where do you put in the book barcode for listing the book on ebid? I don't see anyplace on the selling form. I have never sold any books on ebid. It is probably very obvious.

    Hi
When listing, after you choose a subcategory you'll get the option to either List the Standard Way or List with Pre-Filled Info. Click on List with Pre-Filled Info and a you'll then get a pop-up box where you can put in the ISBN, Title or Author.

Hi Emma, the pre-filled info only works if the info is already saved in the database. Initially, all the ISBNs and book details have to be typed in manually so, unless someone else has already listed the same title, the information may not yet be available. I started adding ISBNs some time ago but haven't had the time to do any more. Of course, I could be wrong about this and eBid may already have linked up to an existing database since my last book listings.

    Thumbs up

I use collectorz.com book collector pro.. very good site and if you are prepared to spend £85 more you can buy a handheld isbn scanner that will work with the program..

I think its really good as you can search many book places like barnes and noble, amazon uk and US and loads of others it gives you blurb a picture and a whole heap of other info.. you search by isbn or author or title... the possibilities are endless..

you can also Export to HTML, for putting your collection on your website and Export to Text (e.g. CSV), for using your data in other programs like Excel. So well handy for bulklisting etc.
