ISBN Numbers

Hello,

I am wondering if there is a database somewhere out there where you can run an ISBN through to get details of the book.

I have started putting these on my listings, but was curious as to how they work.

Plug the ISBN number into Amazon's search engine. You usually find the details you're after - unless the book is very old or rare.

Hi,
my isbn lookup tool uses Amazon web services to search their database. This is the best way I have found & the quickest.
I don't know anywhere you can actually get a database cos it's massive. Amazon doesn't have all ISBNs especially foreign ones, so you don't always get a result. Does the default isbn 0711024146 give you 'On the Waverley Route' if it doesn't the lookup tool can't get your internet connection?

It returns, Author, Title, Publisher, Binding, number of pages, url to the amazon page of this book and the lowest used price on Amazon.

From the looks of it you need to enter the number without spaces or dashes (etc), just one continuous string.
