    Default help with,word,photoshop etc

    Hi, We have a newish computer running xp home, It has been fine for the past month but now word, works and photoshop have decided they need to close and report to microsoft, anyone know of a quick fix. Cant do any listings till i solve it as our other computer has gone for an MOT

    Hi buttons... sorry can't help but may be a good idea to put this up on the KT as well... might get more views there

    Good thinking, I think I will go over to ebay boards as well and seek out purpleangel as i know she is a microsoft techie, best get something done before my hubby finds out I have wrecked his new computer it, I just knew I should have stayed off it

    Hi Buttons,
    the easiest way would to be a system restore, (it takes the system back to when it was working properly)

    You get to it from All Programs - Acessories - system tools,
    then pick a date before the PC was playing up.

    I found system restore but will it wipe out the other things he has stored in it ?

    Hi Buttons,
    no it shouldn't touch emails or any recent files at all.

    If you've just installed a new program, & the PC started to play up just after, you restore to a time before that program was installed.

    If the PC was fine yesterday, restoring it to then should do it OK.

    This tutorial should talk you through it

    Hi, I did put a post here yesterday but it got removed for some reason...??
    Right I have tried the system restore and put a date in twice and it's telling me It cannot restore to them.

    are you logged in as an administrator,
    did you pick a date that was in bold?

    Do you mean am I on a network yes if thats what you mean, otherwise I don't know. How do i find out ? and the other reply is no I just picked any date. oh for my comp and windows 98 back.
