Do you mean am I on a network yes if thats what you mean, otherwise I don't know. How do i find out ? and the other reply is no I just picked any date. oh for my comp and windows 98 back.

no not the network, when you start the PC do you have your own account that you login to, or does the PC just start & go straight to the desktop?

If you go to contol panel, & click on user accounts it will tell you if you're an administrator or not.

If you're are an administrator, then you can use system restore, if you aren't you can't unless you know your other half's login details.

Hi I fessed up and said i would take it back for him, but not at the moment because TL2 is working and i need it for a bit yet.............. But my beautiful old girl with her windows 98se has returned, all put back to her factory setting and gleaming so i am loading her stuff back in... works better than the XP carp,, well this xp carp anyway

Hi buttons,
If its a genuine XP programme then pop along to the Microsoft website - you can download patches to fix your problem - you just need your key (this is the number on your certificate of authenticity - on the back of your XP manual - or there should be a sticker with the key on the back of your comp)

Hi Kel, thanks but it fixed its self, dont ask how cause i don't know but it could have been during one of the updates.
