Default Need help pls ( TECHIE BOFF TYPE PEEPS ) * sob *

Ok ... its like this :

Got new pc game to play and my pc meets ALL the system requirements. It comes with direct.x 9 and so i installed it , as you do.

Anyway, to cut a long story short.

EVERY TIME I TRY TO OPEN THE GAME IT SAYS : There was an error starting direct.x

I went through the whole trouble shooting and testing sound, 3d wotsit, etc. ALL IN WORKING ORDER.

I checked in the actual DIRECT.X folder and it says :

    CAN NOT FIND : commctrl.dll AND cmpagent.exe

so , i googled for them to try and install , missing components , if thats what they are. I unzipped into system folder but still it wont work.

ANYONE ? Or is it a case of TOUGH SHI* try and return the game tomorrow and wait till it comes out on PS2 ?

See if there is a forum on the website for the game. Usually you'll find that other people have had the same problem and you may find your solution there.

    I think your right dee.
I have checked ( for the 1st time ever ) and it seems it is the graphics wotsit. lol

    Under ADAPTER it says :
    : Intel r extreme graphics controler 64mb ...

Is that it ? Does that mean i have to buy a 128 mb one of those ?

commctrl.dll AND cmpagent.exe will most probably need to be in the C:\Windows\System folder (where the "Windows" is the folder where windows is installed.

According to searches cmpagent.exe is a compression tool which belongs to drivespace.

There is a link to info here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q136837/

Which Operating System and Game is it?
