The group said Muslims would be victorious and addressed the pope as "the worshipper of the cross" saying "you and the West are doomed as you can see from the defeat in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya and elsewhere. ... We will break up the cross, spill the liquor and impose head tax, then the only thing acceptable is a conversion (to Islam) or (killed by) the sword."

And they're upset because the Pope read a quote!

The emperor's words were, he said: "Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."

I thought they were meant to be upset because he said that, but they're just reiterating it!!

Hahahahaha! Yeah. I take it you know who was head of security at the twin towers when they went down? He'd only been in the job a month. (The ex-head of their chief rival organisation).

I had to laugh today when an extremist Muslim thought the way to get at the west was to insult Jesus! If you want to wind up the west you don't slag off Jesus. Jesus would only have turned the other cheek then forgotten about it.

We in the west take our civil rights as seriously as the most extreme religious fundamentalist takes their religion. In fact it is our main religion. If they had said "shoot black people", "shoot white people" "shoot women" or "shoot the disabled" that would have wound us all up no end, but "shoot Christians"?? Woefully mistargeted.

Anyone who has ever been woken up by a Jehovas Witness already wants to do that!

Very true. The funny thing is that the Christians I know feel sorry for these fundamentalist preaching hate and death to them- you don't see them screaming for bloodshed when they insult the Son of God...

And the REALLY stupid thing is that Islam recognises Jesus not as the Son of God, but a Prophet just like Mohammed... so why are they insulting Jesus again?? Makes me laff...

You don't see us Pagans getting shirty with other world religions, we just quietly get on with it!

The vatican probably recieves threats to kill the pope on a weekly basis, which is why he travels in a secured bullet proof box. It is sad however that im sure the media will shove the al-queda thing down our throats trying to put the fear of god into us all.

if the media does the right thing and lets it blow over then it will die down....................
