Could we please have a subcategory called 'Yardage' added to Sewing & Embroidery/Fabrics please?

There are two fabric categories.. one for fat quarters and one for everything else.. Why would we need another one?

Well if we really wanted to break down the fabric category even further we could also keep in mind 'patchwork pieces', 'remnants', 'panels', and really the cotton would best be kept separate from everything else. With ebid growing, these things will probably need to be changed at some point.
But I only asked for yardage as I will be adding quite alot. I already have 100's of listings to go through to change to the Fat Quarter subcat. So rather than wait for someone else to request adding a yardage category later after I have added all my listings to 'Everything Else', I thought I'd try to stay one step ahead.
I'm not sure I understand what the problem is really.
Well - what FAbric categories do we want then? G will ask us for precise requirements
How about Fabric - fat quarters
Fabric - other quilting pieces
Fabric - long lengths (over 3 yards)
FAbric - remnants (under 3 yards)
That's just my suggestion
We could usefully divided fat quarters into cotton, silk, others
and possibly cotton into prints and plains?

Hi, Just Fabric - Yardage. and Fabric - Remnants. will do it for me. I would prefer it without the, above 3 yards /meters or below 3 yards /meters added. I agree with the fat quarters but I cant add anything about quilting fabric as i dont know anything about quilting.
I just thought we ought to define "remnant" - if you don't think less than 3yards is a good definition, what is? I'm not being funny - I really would like to get this right.. I'm listing mostly fat quarters at the moment but intend to list other stuff soon.

I suppose that if we are going to do it, we should do it right the first time.
Would it be more logical to have Fabric/Type of Fabric/ Cut of Fabric?? What do you think?
========================
If you agree, then how about(suggestions welcomed):
Fabric/Cotton/Fat Quarters
Fabric/Cotton/Remnants
Fabric/Cotton/Yardage/1-3 yards
Fabric/Cotton/Yardage/4-7 yards
Fabric/Cotton/Yardage/8 or more yards
Fabric/Cotton/Patchwork Pieces
Fabric/Silk/(I'll let you add in here Madelaine)
Fabric/Synthetics & Blends
Fabric/Lace
==================
I sell alot of fabrics by the yard, sometimes I have less than 3 though. So I would hate for someone to think I have remnants. To me a remnant is an oddball sort of length... leftovers, but bigger than scraps.
===========================
So if we don't agree on my first suggestion of the breakdown, then how about:
Fabric/Fat Quarters/Cotton
Fabric/Fat Quarters/Silk
Fabric/Fat Quarters/Other
Fabric/Yardage/Cotton
Fabric/Yardage/Silk
Fabric/Yardage/Other
Fabric/Remnants/Cotton
Fabric/Remnants/Silk
Fabric/Remnants/Other
Fabric/Patchwork Pieces/Cotton
Fabric/Patchwork Pieces/Silk
Fabric/Patchwork Pieces/Other
============================
Cast your vote now! =) I am happy with either way. Hopefully we can get it sorted and if we need to make any additions later it won't be so drastic.

I don't really know but thought if it is just remnant it could be left to our own choice, I dont think the size is important, once we put sizes down we will be stuck with it.
Jsgypsy what do you think?
Yes, I would just say Remnant. Sometimes the simplest way is the best.
I think that if we go with the second suggestion I made which works with the structure that is already in place, it might be the easiest.
