I have always used Paypal not because i like them, but because it was so much easier.
I do think this is a good site and very fair, but still a few problems need ironing out, but this will come through time, I have been watching the discussion boards and hope they are not going to end up like the other side, newbie's getting abuse when asking a simple question?
You don't have to send things by Recorded Delivery when buyers use PPPay.com, that's only if you use PPPay.com escrow.

    Hi,

I'm new too and have found you can offer PayPal in your listings in two out of the three ways on offer - it is available using the spreadsheet listing method and if you use the "list a similar item" option from an existing listing. It is greyed out when I used the eBid Lister (equivalent od Turbolister). If you use PPPal the buyer pays a fee (I paid 49p) and the seller pays a fee (7p I think).

    Hope this helps.

I'm going to throw a different twist on this topic - bear with me

Because of where I live, my browsing style is probably different to most people.
First I look for the item I want and check the current price in the search list.
If I open the auction page, the first thing I do there is check if they'll ship out East and how much they charge for it - there's no point getting myself all excited about the item if they won't send to me.

Because of this, I quickly weed out the excessive postage listings - probably a lot quicker than most people.

But the problem with eBid is thatthe postage box on the auction page is so cramped and cluttered - if the seller has ticked "Europe" as a destination, does it need to name each country individually?

Clarity of display for the postage is needed - i.e. FIX THE SELLERS' and BUYERS' address fields and have the system only display the relevant postage for the buyer's location.

(And stop telling me the postage to the UK coz that's not where I'm at)

    Post Postage rates

Hi new to ebid only sell books i sell on various sites i set my postage rates as up to 2kgs if i sell a book that it is very light i reduce the postage,if i have heavy items i either quote a parcel rate or state in the description that any extra charges are included in the price.I have been selling on line for 5 years have loads of repeat customers. " so if you get conned by high postage charges make sure you leave this in the feedback and always ask the seller for a refund" or even better do not bid on the item

I agree Gaz, the postage box is very cluttered, and it should display only the relevant postage for the buyer's location- that would make it much clearer for everybody.

My gripe is about the inflated postage scams that are rife especially in the "NO RESERVE" / "60 MINUTE" / "FRONT PAGE"
    auctions.

Plenty has been said about this problem but not much seems to change.

Ask a seller, why the high postage, and you will normally get the reply "I can't give it away" or "yes it's so I get a high price for it"

If these so called sellers want a certain price for an item then put it in an auction with a reserve or starting price.

I suppose that will not work as it gives the buyer time to see the rip off POSTAGE.
So BEWARE buyers and check all the info within the listing so the SHARK DON'T BITE YOU!

So come on ebid and protect the greatly improvd site from the SHARKS!
Sounds to me like it's ex e-bay site's doing this cause it was the only way to deal with the fee's .
Maybe they ought to re-think their costings bearing in mind the cheaper way this site works, keh!!
