    Question

Ooh, that's interesting. Could be foreign as the insect is a cicada. Is is made of brass? 6cm makes it a small object, so might be some sort of smoking paraphernalia? Sorry to be so vague, will keep looking.

    Fabienne.

If it is they're teeny curtains . I'm glad Fabienne told me what the insect is When I googled I found this description:-

    Cicadia

Said to be a potent symbol of immortality. It is highly recommended for newlyweds and couples trying to have children. Also those who may be feeling like lady luck has constantly been deserting them may want this.
It is said to be symbolic of a persons ability to rise again after he has fallen. Place a cicada on your office table or career corner of your home where it is said to work best.
Couples looking to rekindle that spark of romance in their lives again or may now be trying to have children should place a cicada in their Nien Yin (relationship) sector. This carved, wooden cicada is suitable for almost any part of the home and will look beautiful without being too unassuming. It makes an excellent gift for newlyweds who are looking forward to a long and happy relationship.

I'm pretty sure they are napkin holders.

forgot to mention as its a Cicadia it must be for using on a picnic or barbecue meal. I know in France we like decorating the table for outside meals.

This is the sound they make (when alive) http://buzz.ifas.ufl.edu/849sl.wav

You can eat then too (when dead) think I prefer them as a napkin holder.
