Thread: Victorian crystal bead necklace ?

  1. #1

Default Victorian crystal bead necklace ?

    Hello all,
once again I need the help of minds far greater than mine. I've just listed what I am told is a Victorian Crystal Bead necklace in my store antiques section. Or is it? Any further information forthcoming?

    thanks

    Jock

    hi jock

cant answer your question but i love crystal necklaces

i havent seen a clear one without a fastener of some sorts before

i own a long black necklace, which i believe is made out of jet or something similar, which is a continuous string of beads and has wire/metal between each bead like your necklace does.

so perhaps that dates it from that period... or both of them to another era for that matter

victorian jewellery tended to be a bit darker, as i said, i really dont know much on the subject, just love old jewellery and pretty things

hmm, saying that i have a link someplace that may be of more help

will have a look at that see if i can find anything

here is the link i mentioned

    http://www.morninggloryantiques.com/...atVictJwl.html

i cant see any mention of crystal necklaces in the victorian section, but they have loads of different bits to look through (i love that site!)

im going to have a good nose around in there, in other sections and see if i can come up with anything

    had any luck yet jock?

i couldnt find anything on that site like them, as i said, i think victorian jewellery tended to be more mourning style because of queenie.

maybe more art deco type era?

if you are able to find out anything more about the necklace - i would love to know

Hi no luck yet . Not had a chance to look elsewhere, been up to my eyes in Daughters and Grandchildren who dont want to go home. We only have the one dial up connection and Emma (youngest daughter ) was doing some stuff for work on her laptop and hijacked me connection for three nights. Middle daughter Claire (who has a broadband connection at home) seems to only remember stuff she has to look for when she comes here so she hijacks me connection. During the day we have our Grandson Nathan (Cbeebies site and Brum) then "Ducks Grandad". And at dinner time Grandaughter Lauren comes home from school cos she doesnt like school dinners or packed lunch so no chance of looking then Mahjongg or Frozen Bubbles take priority. I wish I had a computer. Have managed to log on to check me emails before I have to take she who must be obeyed shopping. So I will try and have a look later . fingers crossed.

    laughs!

you need to get broadband, there are some good deals available now

once you do, you will wonder how you ever coped with dial up!

you can also set up your computers to share the same net access account.... dont ask me how but you can

as far as the necklace goes, i will keep looking, if i do find anything i will let you know

do the crystals have a lot of sparkle to them?

(near drooling here, i love nice sparkling old crystal necklaces)

    such temptation!

    there you are

    laughs

i was looking in the wrong section for this thread

i even put up a new thread asking where it had gone

(i deleted it rather quickly when i realised)

its strange there is not an actual jewellery section in the forums

i might have to suggest it, as i have things that i would like info on but they arent really antiques
