"ebid" is cheaper than feebay!!!

quite right furry , if you only have a few items , I do not think you are trying to make a living here ... so why do others tell you to list more ? ...just list what or as many as you like ...

Why? Because listing more is a simple strategy that most people can use to ensure they do get a sale or two.

If you only list 3 items and dont sell any then you havnt wasted any real time or money (on here anyway). Just think if you listed them on ebay and they didnt sell or sold for a lot less than you wanted then it would cost you. If I list on low % sale venues like Amazon (unless you list for less than the competition, and this isnt possible with books that are already listed at a penny) or Greenmetropolis I dont think the site is naff if I dont sell anything.

Oh and 'dude' I just checked what you are selling. With zero feedback you are really trying to sell the wrong things. That is just too much to pay someone you dont know. I mean electronics stuff like Xbox 360's is one of the prime targets for scammers and the other items... Well I wouldnt personally buy somthing for that much from anybody on any website with no feedback.

Fairly new here and decided to give the Ebid a go to see how well the things is here.
Sadly cant share my excitment from experience here. Yes I agree that eBid is cheaper than Ebay, but its not like its fortune. I have put few things just out of experiment: well just had to end listing for one of them (it was up for few weeks and only had a dozen or so views). Ok it didnt cost me a penny to list it, so after all I didnt lose anything, well at least it looks like I didnt lose anything but in fact by spending 50 or 70 p on Ebay to list similar item I pretty sure it would go on 7 day auction. And I know this because this kind of stuff is selling well on Ebay.
I know someone will tell - oh but you have zero feedback. Of course I do - you cant get feedback by not selling anything. And no I am not ready to sell something for loss - why if I can sell it to make profit.
May be some people are hoping to find a bargain where there is no bargain to be found, especially in collectors items.
I know Ebay not without its problems, but so is any other similar site. Look at it from other side - yes Ebay can be expensive, but it have millions users, so you get much better exposure.
Its all like in real life - if you have a shop on Oxford Street in London and you have a shop somewhere on the outskirts of the town - guess where is the rent will be more expensive.

Hi Penguin, & welcome to ebid.

Think most folk, esp full time sellers, keep a foot in both camps. Put a flyer in with your feebay sales...let your customers know that you sell on here as well.

Another idea is, when u make a sale on the dark half, email your customer with a link to your ebid stock, & offer maybe a 5% discount or a combined postage deal if they make a purchase from you, on here at the same time.

It's all about using both sites to your best advantage.

You could also buy a couple of items to get your feedback started, also two expensive books is not much choice for buyers.

Sure, that's real life. Also in real life I join a gym or go on a diet and INCREDIBLY, two days later I haven't lost any weight!

I'm trying to say that eBid does work, it's not perfect, but you HAVE to give it a try for several months before you decide whether or not it works for you.

I've had buyers pop up after months of waiting, items that wouldn't have sold on eBay with relist after relist. Yet they were delighted with their finds. Heck, eBid sold for me a 1962 London Underground leaflet that I was about to throw in the bin, if it can sell that it can sell anything!

PS: Does 'Penguin' mean you're into Linux? If so, hurrah!

Hi penguin. a few things jumped out at me when i read your post. You seem to be comparing ebid to ebay and maybe trying to sell here using your ebay sales tactics? For many reasons (some you've pointed out) that doesn't work here. You're much more likely to succeed if you use ebid to it's strengths: list more items, ( to get more exposure) and for unusual items- list them in a way that ensures ebid will automatically include them on Google products for you.
You said "you can't get feedback by not selling anything "- You can! You can buy That's how I started off my feedback, and I never looked back after that.

That is a good thing, actually buying somthing. I havnt bought a single item on eBid that I could have got cheaper on eBay, Play or Amazon and yet I have bought quite a lot and none of it was bought just to build feedback!
