Default World War 2 - Brass or bronze/enamel badge - Any one know...

Anyone know anything about this badge. Any history, is it collectable?

Sorry pic is not very clear but it says Kreuzer Karlsruhe (the battle ship pictured) enamel on the front. On the back it has the letters H. B. at the top and at the bottom the letters GES.GESCH-. Has a pin on the back. Any help most welcome.

In my experience almost anything military is collectable, especially WWII!

Badges of every sort make good money (no-one's wife complains that they are taking up too much room!)

The ship in question was torpedoed in 1942 and then scuttled.

I would list it in the other place, making sure that I had some nice German keywords in there "Kriegsmarine" for example and be prepared to post to Germany. There is lively interest in their own WWII ships there. To illustrate - I once went to a German modelling club's exhibition and found models of every famous ship the RN ever sunk... Sharnhorst, Bismark, Graf Spee... It was all my husband and I could do not to whistle "Hearts of Oak" as we went round (we did sing the Dambusters' March on the Mohnedam but then everyone does, just quietly!!!)

Sorry to G&M to be suggesting a listing in the other place but this is an item of unknown value and is much more likely to find its proper price there.
