I also install and run some anti-spyware software on your computer, this can also popup ads.
Id recommend Microsoft BETA Version or this ones quite good.

Go to: Start>Control Panel>Performance & Maintenence>Services

Choose Messenger, right click, click properties, select Disabled in the drop down box and press the stop button.
