Default International Trading - Rotating "Tips" banner

Could I ask though that you introduce a "tips" banner slot in the forums and include brief comments (suggested by members) such as ....

    1. USA Buyers - most UK sellers want paid in UK Pounds, NOT US$

    2. USA Buyers - please note that UK Sellers pay the same postage to anywhere in the USA - please don't bug them with postage queries to specific US postcodes.

    3. USA Buyers - don't send US Cheques and money orders unless your UK Buyer requests them - UK bank fees for cashing them can be as high as $30 per payment

These are just a few that spring to mind immediately - I'm sure US members could think of ones they'd like included for informing UK members.

Join in folks - what tips would you like to see displayed to reduce the frustrations and time wasting admin of trading on eBid?

If in any doubt, contact the seller before sending payment.

Might be a daft question (as I can't be arsed to look)... but does PPPay accept US$'s? And if so, does it automatically convert them (like the rip-off competition does) into good old GBP's?

Or.... do the Shermans only use Pay Pal as it 'originated' in the good ole U.S of A and are paranoid as ever to use anything but....

On another note, can we pay from PPPay into US accounts? Me suspects not......

Why doesn't eBid use Nochex as a payment link? At least they don't do you up the rear with chargeback like PayPal do, and they're cheaper (but not as refined).

Shoot me down if you like, I've had a few shandies and have just had my first sale on eBid... although Payment is Pending so only time will tell if its successful or not.

ppPay allows you to have three active currencies - GBP / USD / Euro

You can hold balances in any combination from 1 to 3 of them, and juggle money between them when logged in.

As with Pay-up-Pal there is a currency conversion %, which is why most people will probably specify in which currency they want to receive payment - e.g. I only accept payment in GBP because that's the currency of my bank accounts.

Not sure about withdrawing from ppPay into a US Bank Account - I think if you've upgraded the ppPay account to silver, you probably can as the neccesary bank/card verifications will have been done, but suspect the payment will be to the card - check the website or email support@pppay.com

    Regards

How about a quick banner that says "U.S. citizens - you aren't the only country in the world"...

Almost every time I sold to a U.S. buyer on Feepay, they would pay by Paypal but not include any extra postage. They never asked how much the extra postage would be. I really think most of them think the U.K. is a small state off the coast of America somewhere...

Ah bu then I have problems with buyers from both sides of the pond failing to take notice of this in my auction descriptions

    -----------------------------------------------------

    POSTAGE, PACKAGING & HANDLING

£1.25 per pack by Express Airmail + Registered Delivery (to UK & Europe)

    Additional Postage Discounts

Winning multiple auctions normally gains combined & discounted postage

    - IF you wait for my billing email ... if not, sorry - no refunds.

When sending billing email, I will advise permitted combinations according to Post Office limits.

All items combined must finish within 5 days of the first item won.

    North & South American Countries

A single price-rate applies whether you live in Anchorage, Quebec, or Cape Horn

The USPS "rate by state" applies only to packages sent from USA to USA.

Single-rate cost of postage to anywhere in the Americas (Zone 2 on the above map)

    = rate above + 25%

    ------------------------------------------------

    They also ignore this

    ------------------------------------------------

Payments accepted in UK £ Only

    To make it clear

I ONLY accept payments in British (GB, UK) Pounds Sterling..........

I DO NOT accept payment in other currencies.

Non-UK Cheques or Money Orders - NOT accepted

you will be charged the return postage.

    -----------------------------------------------

But the worst bit is when they ignore this

    -----------------------------------------------

NOCHEX OR PAYPAL PAYMENTS UNDER £5.00

    NOT ACCEPTED

Due to the fees they charge making small payments unprofitable

(Remember the payment for postage incurs a fee from them as well)

NoChex & PayPal payments under £5.00

    will be AUTOMATICALLY refunded

and you will be asked to use an alternative payment method

(It normally appears in a BIG red box)

You'd be suprised at how blind some people can be - one US buyer from eBay even gave me a neg for refusing to accept their paypal payment for 2.25 - despite the auction containing the red box above.

Another negged me and accused me of lying and fraud in the comment, because I billed them in UK Pounds and not US Dollars.

Some folk are very lucky I don't live in their street

    Grrrrrrr

Bleedin' Illiterates should be banned from using computers
