Default eBid's US launch gets a mention...

The Auction Guild's latest e-newsletter - released today - contained a small piece about eBid's US launch:

eBid.co.uk has become uk.eBid.tv and has added a US site at
http://us.ebid.tv The UK site has approx 130,000 listings
and the US site 5700 (has been open a few days). There are
currently no listing or final value fees, only some special
    feature fees.

    UK - http://uk.ebid.tv/indexmain.php?from=
    US - http://us.ebid.tv/indexmain.php?from=

The Auction Guild has 9200 subscribers around the world, with many more reading the website.

    Not bad.
Hopefully it'll bring more buyers, not just sellers.

Are you planning any significant advertising campaigns? Such as TV?

Default Ebid stateside venture, great news.

Think the US venture will, may be, at last be the beginning of the rise of ebid as a viable alternative to aunty ebay. Posted a comment on this subject yesterday on the ebay boards. Usually ebay have not bothered much about posts concerning ebid as they have not, in the past, considered them as a threat, however, yesterday my post was pulled in about 120 minutes. Ebay are getting seriously worried. And, of course, PPPay.com have Paypal trashed.......................Phil

Couldn't agree more... I don't think ebay in the past thought ebid was going to get anywhere, many other ebay posters on the forums nearly always slagged ebid off. Have monited a lot of postings in ebay's uk forums and already there people have been moaning about paypal for some time but the comments about pppay.com have nearly always been positive.

Good idea about bringing ebid to America though, just what ebay needs a little competition. I guess ebay will feel just like Hoover did when Dyson came along!

Agreed, Ebid has just timed it right. People are looking for an alternative to ebay and here it is. QXL is no competition at all but i think ebay are getting worried.

    Talking

I really hope eBid works better than ebay.
Since being on eBid I have had good experiences, but the thing I hate most about ebay is the amount of fake gear and scammers. I have seen a lot of fake stuff selling on ebid too and I hope the scammers dont move in here too.

The thing with ebay is that it is so full of junk, trying to find the thing you want can be quite a challenge.

There are lots of rules and regulations on ebay but trying to report rule breach or illegal items to ebay is a nightmare with most ending up staying or auctions closing before ebay have a chance to action it.

I hope ebid doesn't have the same problems as ebay in this department.

Maybe ebid should introduce a "report this auction" function to each auction for quick reporting of illegal or rule breach items on it's site.
Also if ebay pull an auction for rule breach they give you your listing fee back. WTF is that about? If you post an item that breaks the rules or is illegal, you forfeit this (or you should) at least.
This may act as a deterant in some way to scammers.

Wow... glad I got that lot off my chest

I have been surfing the ebay boards for a few days now and there seems to be a lot of talk among the sellers that it is on the way out.

Too many scams, fakes and rip offs.

Don't think its on its way out but it will be left to the scammers.

Me, I am an ebid convert just as soon as I get my stock in to sell.

Gazza, have you amended the seller listing policy section to include all of these items? Also, what about eBooks???
