Just popped in to ask a question...

I need to know what a DNS port is. I have checked with sygate and it says that this port is closed and is no longer stealthed.
My norton a.virus subscription has recently ran out, and when i checked with sygate it came back with this.

I have just installed avast, and have checked again with sygate, it now says that not only is the DNS port closed, but also that the following ports are also closed and are no longer stealthed ...

FTP DATA, FTP, SSH, TELNET, SMTP, DCC & FINGER

this is worse than yesterday **insert sad smilie here**

Now, is it gonna be ok to leave this as it is, or do you suggest that i renew my subscription with norton, as i was fully stealthed when it was up to date.

Get yourself a firewall - I'm not too sure what all of those are in detail, but I do know they're basically "open ports" - ie. your PC is WIDE OPEN to all kinds of nasty things.


Try ZoneAlarm, it's free and will sort out that problem. If you haven't got any antivirus software though, check out Norton Internet Security, which is AV & firewall.
