air weapons are not actually classes as firearms in the law so do not come under the same selling restrictions unless they have been modified to increase their power.
I do quite a bit of shooting,both with firearms and air weapons.
I hope ive cleared this up for you.

....generally a bb gun is much weaker than an air gun, but having said that if it hit you in the eye....would be just as harmful.
