Moderating means going through the forums for inappropriate content. This can be either a post in the wrong section, or offensive messages.
Trust me ... with a forum the size this is already its no mean feat. Usually you have Moderators to do the job for you, which is what I have on my site. People you trust to keep things in some perspective ... doesnt mean stopping the fun people have, but rather making sure that FUN is exactly what the forums are.
We have a 1 warning rule on our site ... you get caught trolling you are banned instantly. IP and all. Thank god we have only had to do that twice in almost 2yrs.
This place is great the majority of the time ... maybe if G&M were to consider giving some individuals moderating permissions it would help to lessen the amount of bad posts and fights. We would really benefit from Moderators, but sadly its one of those things whereby you need to really trust the person you give these additional benefits to. I have seen people on here be really nice at first and then all of a sudden just turn vicious ... so its hard sometimes to see if a wisecrack is just that, or the start of something nastier.
