feel stupid but a little help?

don't know where else to post this... i'm been doing an online course and making notes to help me remember, now when i go back to what should be an ordinary WPS doc it looks like this! any ideas how to translate it back into text - i cna't face the prospect of re-doing half the course to make notes again. the only thing i've done since writing it is to upgrade Word . help?

havent figured out how to delete this thing - but thanks to the kind people who offered enough helpful suggestions for me to get my document back in its original form - basically i had created it in works, and while other docs reconfigured themselves in word 97 this one didnt so it was a matter of doing a manual transfer, got there with a lot of help, thanks again. lindsay
