Thread: networking PC's

  1. #1

    Default networking PC's

    hi all

any suggestions on how to network PC's together. We have managed to link them up for Game play but not so that the internet connection works on my PC  I have posted this same topic on the Kitchen Table in the hope that someone can help!

We have broadband connection and are running it through a dual speed hub to my PC but nothing seems to work. we have tried most of the usual options

    Any help appreciated! Thanks
    Steph

PS if I don't reply straight away it is that im only online between 4-6 ish (when i can get on the PC before my hubby LOL) I'm not ignoring you honest!

If you have broadband, you will need a router. (I tried for two weeks the traditional way).Try and get one with a switched hub. I have a Linksys router, dead easy to set up, the software does it for you. The one thing you will need to do is register the Mac address of the router with your ISP. I am with Blueyonder and you can do this through their self-care page. There is also an excellent site to visit if you get stuck

We can't do ours either... I don't have a clue & the other half has got an ethernet hub between the two computers that's all... I want my set up in my 'office' upstairs & he wants his left downstairs  lol

He has tried many times, but all he does is keep changing my settings! adding accounts and bug*ering up my computer...

is an ethernet Hub enough or do I need something like your widget?

    Thanks

    totallyclueless

If you have a standard dial-up connection all you need is a Ethernet hubs - if you have broadband you need a router to share an internet connection- see above

oooohhh I wish I had the money this month!

I have spent over a tenner on YDC and two books & that's me lot ..
till the kids go back to School & I start looking after Ellie again...
I've only got her until April now as she starts Playschool so I hope I can make a go of it here by then... I can live on about £30.00 a week... I'm very cheap!

anybody want to buy me and I'll auction myself...
