THE reason Ebid is slow to load

It takes ages for the main page to load over my 56k modem. I have read that some people think this is due to busy servers etc, but I dont think that is the case...

Has anyone actually checked the file size of the tiny preview images on the main page?! If you do a right click, and then properties, you can find that some of these images are anything up to 30,000 - 40,000 bytes in size, sometimes larger. The "other" auction sites pics tend to be no larger than 3,000 bytes.

In reality, this means that for every image you download on ebid's home page, you could of downloaded 10 at the "other" site.


Just thought I would point this out. Would be nice if something could be done about this.

I find it no slower on here than i do on any site .. the only problems i have had was when we had tons of new members ....But that has been solved now with G&M adding a new server :lol: :lol:

Hi Nuts

The new server isnt actually in service yet, Ive spent the last 3 days getting it ready, its a real brute and doesnt like being told what to do!!

Im gonna go for it later at about 2am when things are quieter, so the site will be down for about an hour..

We've got the buynow working with dutch auctions in our test area, gonna do a bit more testing tomorrow and should hopefully put it live tomorrow as well..

So how comes the problems we had when all the people came over from FEEPAY and things slowed down are solved if you havn't got the new server up ands running :? :? :? :?
