Thread: CRAFTY ITEMS

  1. #71

    Default Re: CRAFTY ITEMS

    Hi there

is the arts and crafts section (which is currently in "Whatevers Left") going to be moved to the toys and hobbies section?

I think it would be better there

having said that do most people just type in the item in search or do they browse using the browse button at the top

if they browse they may not think to go to Whatevers Left for these items
    just my 2-p worth

    Hi Emma

Rumour is, that once we've got a total of 1000 craft listings, G&M will give us our own section in the main headers

Just wondering if there's been any word from da boyz on this one ......

They promised Spiritual & Metaphysical a top level category if it reached 1,000 listings but them moved the target to 2,000 after it had reached 1,300

Are they doing the same to crafts?

i think there needs to be a different section for handcrafted items

there is no point having handmade cards listed inside the craft section, as a lot of people looking at craft items would be looking to make their own cards anyway.

if a whole section to handcrafted goods isnt appropriate then how about a subheading in stationary and packaging for handmade cards?

    Hi Minkster

Even on the other side, handrafted items comes under the Crafts category, as does handmade cards. But it then has sub-cats for different supplies and for finished items

Maybe on here, the first level of sub cat should be simply
    Crafts - Finished goods
    Crafts - Supplies

Then under each of those should be an appropriate set of sub categories. I know the Boyz will argue that finished goods should then go in existing categories alongside factory made items, and I mainly agree with them on that from a site admin point of view. As a seller, I think it could cause confusion and dilute views /bids due to category duplication, and obviously I'm against that.

It's a tricky one to be sure and maybe can only be fixed within this category by using a system similar to eBay's "Item specifics" system where a box could be checked to say if the listing is a "supplies" item or a "finished goods" item.

    Lightbulb Categories

I sell lampwork glass beads and would like to see the bead category (under "jewelry and watches") divided into other categories...ie, lampwork beads, czech glass, swarvorski, etc., something similar to the way eBay does it. It's easier to narrow down a search that way.
