Hard core porn - or R18 - is still sale restricted, although now legal in the UK. Mark & Gary are very right in consulting their lawyer about this. By having them listed at the moment, it is a general category. BUT by segregating them to their own section may have HUGE implications. Plus M & G would HAVE to advise sellers on the correct way to list, describe, AND get said items to the buyer.

Don't blame G & M, blame our ****ty Victorian laws in this country.

And NO - having a forum category especially for naming and shaming is a BAD idea. Just because one person has a bad experience with a member, it doesn't mean that they will continue.

The name and shame is more on the idea of what has been added b4 in this forum where some have got 3-4 straight bad ratings and where still conning people as it slipped past the management as the person who added the message said he had been caught out and it wasnt till after he won and paid by pay pal he checked the profile then noticed the bad ratings and everyone does it from time to time is to see something they rearly want and forget to check the profile of a person

And i was wondering what you mean by HUGE implications having it in a section of its own --- As i have tried to point out we have had the same problem in adult groups which sell toys and videos and both msn and yahoo advise any group managers to sell such items in a seperate area away from any general sales or swops which you get in some groups and it would then it would be classed like selling such items on the top shelves like they do in shops etc , And also to make it clear that the items inside are for adults only even if it is in an adult rated group and they advise that some items contained in some videos are still classed as illegal to be sold over here due to some types of content and if anyone brought such a video and it is found to be containing such items not only are the sellers of the videos held accountable but also the management of the site it was brought from as they allowed it to be sold , They are that genuine about having adult material which is beeing sold in a section of its own they shut down any group not doing so as their solicitors state that minors do eventually get into a closed adult rated site and having such items in a section of its own acts as an extra precaution even though with most adult groups it states its for adults only on entry anyway -- I have had 2 such groups closed down before msn actually told me the reason why as i thought it was to do with the pictures beeing posted and after the first time i actually didnt allow any photos to be posted and when i was shut down the second time i was shocked, So spent about 2 hours on the phone to them and they explained it was not the pictures but it was the way we sold adult items even though the groups i ran to gain entry you had to apply and wait to be prosessed to gain entry as they said any child will sooner or later find a way round things and gain entry.
And they even thought about useing a credit card check to gain entry to adult groups and they decided that was not the way to go as any kid can get the number off his/her parents credit card and type in when the parents are out ----- so it became such a can of worms that 90% of adult groups which sold adult materials decided that they would only sell toys etc and not videos as until someone comes up with a sure way to ensure that they dont carry any of the content which can be classed as illegal it is far better not to sell such videos

The thing i didnt know till joining here and have checked on since is that you cant send hard core films through the post and i have been asking around and waiting for msn to get back to me as i even phoned them and they wasnt sure but said the same theory would apply that if it turns out to be true (and they checking for me) that any site managers who allow selling of videos which state (hardcore and also postage) can be held accountable aswell , and as letsdeal proved earlyer in the week with his copy of a advert in here some actully state both on.....

GAZZA AND MARK WHEN THEY GET BACK TO ME AND SEND ME ANY INFO I WILL BE PLEASED TO PASS IT ON TO YOU .....

Because of the problems i have had in my groups etc with such items that is why i took a stance of requesting adult material in its own section in here as i feel this site is great and wouldn't want anything to happen to it over the content of adult material in videos ............

OHHHHHH i have a quick question why do you think other online auctions take a hard stance over adult items???
(and as someone stated earlyer in the week when they thought this site was going to stop selling such items that "they would be stuck with the stock they just brought in" as they cant sell the toys on another site) .....

Has anyone wondered why some other auction sites wont allow adult vids at all and some wont allow any adult sex toy either :?: :?: :?:

MY opinion its such a can of worms they decide not to bother with them at all ... But i wouldnt want to see this site go that way as i think any adult is free to buy and sell what adult toys/vids he or she wishes as long as its not beastality or pedo!!!

    KPRNuts,

G & M *are* working hard on this issue. I have every confidence they are consulting with their lawyers at the moment on the legality of having porn categories.

There is no point doing anything more now until they have made a decision as to whether it is legal to provide a medium for selling these things here or not. What would be the point of introducing a new adult category now if the complete sale of adult videos might be stopped in a few weeks time? Just let them get on with their job, it might not happen instantaneously, but whenever it does happen I'm sure we will be the first to know.

At the moment, however, my opinion - your opinion, anybody's opinion here is secondary to legality. If the law says "no", the law says "no", and however permissive our society might have become, anybody's argument is futile. As Mark pointed out, our hard-working site owners are currently checking and liaising with their lawyers to see if indeed it is illegal. I for one would not want to be advertising my goods on a site that was at risk of being closed down.

Secondly, and I don't want you to take this the wrong way - could you please use a full stop or comma or some punctuation now and then in your posts? - I for one find them incredibly hard to read. Perhaps you could paste them into a word processor before posting them? I'm sure you're giving a very valid opinion but people are much more likely to listen to it if it's readable. To the same end, perhaps you would consider reducing the length of some of them.

My apologies if this is quite lengthy - obviously this is a contentious topic, and here are my two cents.

    Regards,

    Pete B

I think the subject has been solved to a certain degree as with the new setup of the site ...Adult items are now in a Sub section of their own

But i think this string of messages should rearly get back onto the subject Giftshack put it here for as it seemed to have got sidetracked with the adult subject

A category in the forum to post links to unsuitable auctions, hopefully it will cut down on the amount of unsuitable listings as sellers will know that anything found possibly unsuitable will be posted here and it will then be deleted from the listings, i for one am fed up with seeing auctions like my worn panties and phone s*x

update these listings were deleted same day of reporting them which is excellent support lets keep up the good work and hopefully one day ebid will be clear of these type of listings

How many users read the forums as there dont seem to many topics by different individuals

oohhh yer i remember now .. and i think it is a great idea as it would put all these messages in 1 place instead of clogging up the managers emails and it would also show those who are new to auctions what the fraud auctions etc look like

    We've got 2 options here

    1. All new auctions are put in a list for a human to go over and allow or disaalow to go into circulation....

    2. We supply an icon on every auction page that silver or above members can click on to warn us about an auction, then on the admin side we can have the list in front of us and just delete as we go thru the day....

We'll proably for the second option
