    Default Bank Transfers

I've sold a few items online for collection only. Some of the people collecting, asked to pay at the door with a bank transfer using their smartphones.

I had to give them my sort code and account number on my debit card.

Does it work the same way on eBid?

I prefer bank transfers now, as there is no fee to pay. Better than cash actually as it goes straight into your bank account and theres no risk of getting fake notes.

I have bought and sold items here using bank transfers.without any issues.

One thing to bear in mind is that as a buyer, if the item doesn't turn up after payment on-line this way. banks don't have to refund your money for goods not received.

That has happened to me only once in more than 15 years and it was on another site.

    Thanks,

On eBid, would the buyer have to contact the seller to make the bank transfer, or can the buyer get the required details at checkout?

A word of warning - a few years ago we had a scammer on here who set up direct debits on our accounts based on the details given so they could "pay" us. I believe no-one lost any money but it took me close to a working week (40 hours) to sort it out. I now realise that the bank didn't handle the whole thing correctly but I still would have had to queue forever to tell them that.

When I send an invoice following a sale, it has a note added with my bank details included.

With reference to Madelaine's post above,if you plan to use this method regularly open an everyday saver account or similar.Money can be paid in by anyone but no payments out.
