    I did notice a few months ago the PayNow options changed - the 'bank one' disappeared and there is only the 'PayPal' button'.
    Did not bother about it as I pay by PayPal anyway.

    But I did wonder if it was the banks and building societies causing it by 'tightening up their procedures' as 'required by law' as they state

    Yes, there seems to be a lot of "tightening up" going on at the moment. Have seen on a thread on obay about photo I.D, a screen-shot of a PP page "requesting" it from a seller. With the "request", in a side-bar, comes the list of restrictions on their account until it is provided -- basically everything except money being paid into the account.

    Stealthily (whether it's really required by law or not) the tech giants are giving themselves the power to demand more personal info. that they can sell on to their "partners" (in crime).

    Yesterday I received a reply from Support the gist of which said that they are aware of technical issues with their "payment merchant provider", not sure what that might be!, are working on them and hope to get them fixed "soon".

    It also said not to worry about the (unpaid) invoice for now -- they will let us know when everything is up and running again.

    I'll probably see if automatic payments are fixed by the end of January, they're so convenient for me. If not I might start paying manually although that makes me more reliant on PP again and I no longer trust them to provide a reliable service.

    A quick update.

    I recently had a red banner drawing my attention to the unpaid invoices so paid them with paypal.
    That payment went through OK so I've nothing outstanding.

    Today I received my invoice for January and as usual it says the amount will be requested from my card in the next few days.

    Fingers crossed that the bug is fixed and payment is taken automatically

    I've just checked and the invoice is still red so not paid yet.
    I'll wait until the eighth and if it hasn't been taken I'll pay manually. (assuming PP is kind enough to allow me to do so)

    The payment still hadn't been taken automatically this morning so I paid manually using paypal.

    Hope they fix the automated system soon.

    I've just asked support about this issue - they don't seem to be very bothered but they've changed provider so we need to enter our cards again (I think!)

    It's a few years ago now so my memory might be at fault but I don't recall giving my card details to a Payment Merchant Provider when I joined ebid.

    Yes, I gave ebid my bank details and card number for fee payments and I had a paypal account that I also must have added to use the checkout. Both are still the same and up to date on ebid's records. Perhaps I'm wrong but didn't ebid set up the automated payment so they could get paid? I just ticked a box to say which method of payment was my preferred option?
