    Default Handmade Items

    I haven't given up.

I'll say it again - craft supplies and handmade items are two totally different markets. They need to be in two, separate, top-level categories. Look at Etsy!

I've never had anyone think they were buying the garment when they had bought the pattern but others on here have. The confusion is understandable!

Although I do not sell in these categories and up to now have not bought in these categories, I really can see your point. For what it is worth I support you in your attempt to get these categories straight.

And why are knitting patterns lumped under Sewing and Needlework??? I see needlework as cross stitch, embroidery etc. so Crafts>Needlework should be a category with cross stitch, embroidery etc. as sub cats. Knitting and Crochet patterns would then have their own category Crafts>Knitting and Sewing Patterns.
There are also far too many sub cats in the knitting pattern category. It is all a mess and until sorted I shall SELL all my patterns on the other side.

Apart from moving to the otherside, I totally agree with you, love to stitch. Sadly, eBid used an expert to design the categories. I don't have to ask whether the expert in question was male or female!

Please consider this change to the top level categories.

I'd be very happy to plan the categories for Crafts without charging you for my (valuable!) time. Anything to get knitting out from Needlework (it's just not!)

The lack of further activity on this thread marks a lack of belief that there is any chance you, Gazza & Mark, will do anything about it.

It doesn't mean that it doesn't need doing.

The fact that management just ignore this (and basically the boards) shows that they are not as engaged with their customers as they once were.

I agree - needlework is not associated with knitting. Crafts could definitely use an overhaul. Craft Supplies and Handmade items are different categories, which have different sellers and buyers.

I'm still here and I still think this change needs to be done.

I agree, Madelaine. Handmade should definitely be a separate category.
I'm just making my way back to eBid after a long absence (sailing on "the river" which is no longer plain sailing) and have several thousand craft items to list, with possibly some handmade items further down the road. When I was last here, Gazza and Mark were very proactive so I would hate to think that is no longer the case.
