What exactly is the SPOT PRICE of Silver?

The major impact on the SPOT PRICE of Silver is Futures Contracts for Silver on the COMEX division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. These Contracts represent the projected price of 5,000 Ounces of Silver on a hypothetical future delivery date. However, most Futures Contracts are never settled in Physical Silver, just cash. Hundreds of Ounces of “on-paper” Silver are traded on the COMEX for every single Ounce of Physical Silver that is ultimately delivered in the real world. So, the SPOT PRICE everyone want's to purchase Silver for is the price per Ounce for 5,000 Ounces of silver, not just one Ounce. You see a premium above SPOT VALUE because Physical Silver has to be purchased, processed and produced into the Rounds and Bars we want to own.

This is a TEN Ounce Bar made from Silver recovered from the shipwreck. These were produced without the date as shown and with a February 17, 1941 date. This was the day the Gairsoppa was sunk by a German sub. The bar without the date is a lot harder to find than the bar with the date.

I saw your thread, didn't understand what stacking meant so clicked on out of pure curiosity - I am so glad I did! This is fascinating stuff! History brought to life! Thanks for posting - I do hope others will join in and share their knowledge/experience in the same way you have portrayed it here.

Hi BenzCoins. I think having silver, gold and precious gems around is about one of the most important things people can do to protect their interests. I have very little, but try to buy scrap whenever I can. I watch the channels on YT that recover gold and melt scrap into bars. I hope to do this myself one day. I have an account here in ebid but have sold only two items so far.

I registered a while back but moved here for good after the recent changes at the other site. Hopefully my sales will increase. Even if they don't, I am happy to be here.

Here is an excellent site for Silver Collectors...

The International Association of Silver Art Collectors (IASAC) was founded in 1985 and is still running strong today.
