Did the stay happen before or after the agreed sale?
Has the sale been agreed as a manoeuvre/bid to remove the "squatter"/partner?
No doubt there will be all sorts of other questions needing answers too -
perhaps this is a problem ripe for the attention of Citizens Advice?
.
yes I know and I am worried, i dont think she realises what can happen, she should no have felt sorry for him and left him where he was
I'll bet she let him stay without a contract being signed, too. That will make it even more difficult - and expensive. She needs to start moving on it right now! If a real friend he will understand and leave. If not she is likely to lose the sale - even more expense. Very worrying...

Yes. Also, the ramifications of the house purchasing/selling chains (on both sides) collapsing is horrendous.... not to mention if he is in a position to make a claim against her such as:
"If you have lived together 'as man and wife' for at least two years or if you can show that you were financially dependent on your partner, you can make a claim for a financial settlement ...."
.
they weren't living together as such she just gave him somewhere to stay for a few nights to get himself sorted and he didnt, anyway he now says he will go early this week coming ( fingers crossed)
