    Default eBid popups

    .

The removal of these annoying eBid popups, which do not appear to me to have a purpose, would improve site usage considerably.

What is the utter point or purpose in
delaying me from seeing what I actually want to see by telling me an item was relisted weeks or months ago ?

This information is of no benefit to either user or site alike - and could be seen as damaging since such popups advertise the slow turnover rate of these items............

edited to add: this popup appeared AFTER the eventual sale!

see my next post for more clarity.......

    .

to make it clearer, the item I have just tried to see was a stamp which has been sold.

So I clicked on the button to go to view the new listing of the item.... even though I knew it had been sold, just to see what would happen -

lo and behold I did not see a repost of the same item, which is a stamp, but a knitting pattern!

deary me, how frustrating is that!

    another example:

I wanted to see a stamp which sold on 9.10.20 - item 186686107 - accessed via Seller's feedback. The popup completely greyed out the actual listing and made the listing inaccessible.

When I clicked on the button "View the new listing" I expected to be taken to the actual repost of this item:

"This listing was reposted on Fri 28 Aug 2020 17:46:24 (BST)"

    - but that did not happen.

Instead, I was taken to a LIVE listing of something completely different - a crochet pattern, ID number 186686615.

I see no logic or sense in this, only frustration and disbelief.

    Hi Cheaver,

The information about the reposts is there so that when someone comes on to the site via an old link that is now not BuyNowable then they have a direct link to the reposted version so that a purchase can be made instead of them disappearing into the ether.

If the link is bad and does not take you to the correct listing then we need to fix that straight away. Are you able to give us URLs to check so we can replicate and get it fixed.

    Thanks,
    Gazza

This only holds good on LIVE listings?

    I was referring to SOLD.

The "this listing has been reposted" information is shown on closed listings that have been reposted. The link should go to a newer version of the closed listing.

You mentioned that you clicked on a stamp that went to a crochet pattern, this is not correct at all. If you are able to show us where this happened we can get it fixed asap.

    Thanks again,

    Thank You Gazza,

also, is there a valid reason for sold items to have any popups?

    Stamp Sold item:

    https://www.ebid.net/uk/for-sale/gb-...-186686107.htm

stating item reposted in August (but it was sold some days before I viewed it a few days ago in October!) -

when I clicked on the "View the new listing" button it took me to a current, live listing, ie an unsold item:

458 Crochet Pattern for Rose Doily 16" diameter ) - item number 186686615

    link:

I see the pop up issue on SOLD items continues:

item: 186686103 - accessed today, 18.10.20, via Seller's feedback (Left for others) - item SOLD prior to FB being left on 16.10.20

Clicked on the item and was taken to page with item FOR SALE (CHILD's knitting pattern) pop up:

    https://www.ebid.net/uk/for-sale/360...-186686103.htm

Clicked on the View the new listing button: was taken to a different LIVE LISTING of a LADIES knitting pattern item ID 186686611

    https://www.ebid.net/uk/for-sale/157...-186686611.htm

    .

We've done some digging and found a little bug affecting some old listings. All should be up to date now and things pointing to where they should if any.

Thanks for all the help again,
