Default Getting involuntary -- automated Feedback

I don't know when a transaction is made how long each side has the ability to post feedback or if there even is a time limit.

I am wondering what would be improper or even a drawback if feedback by either or both parties (Seller and/or Buyer) has not been left within 30 days after the transaction that a POSITIVE feedback be left automatically for the individual(s) that have not received feedback yet.

The feedback automatically left could even be marked Automated Feedback (or something of that nature) if it needed to be.

If the option to change the feedback was left available on the automated feedback the person the automated feedback was inserted for could change it if they desired, however, they should not be able to delete the feedback. I feel like many times feedback is not left just because the Seller or Buyer doesn't want to bother with leaving it. If the reason is something similar to this how many would go in and change the automated feedback.

Automated feedback would also take care of showing a sale had been made. They allow imported feedback from other website and to me the eBid automated feedback would be more valuable to everyone.

I like this idea - my feedback has just passed 5000 but I've left very nearly 7000 - now there aren't that many negs!

Can't say i'm keen on automated feedback. IMO feedback should voluntary. It is worth much more if it is.
However, I would very much like to see a sales counter showing how many sales a seller has made. This would complement feedback. It could even, say, show how many sales this year and how many since the seller joined.

    That would do it!

How do you find out how much Feedback you've left?

I agree with Tony that FB should be voluntary and is worth more if it is. But I also agree with Ropegg about imported FB and the importance of showing that a sale has been made.

I spend some time on the obay boards and if ebid is mentioned it isn't long before someone trots out that "Nothing ever sells on Ebid". That is difficult to argue against as there is little evidence in support. I'd prefer a Transaction Counter but anything that shows sales are going on would help dispel the rumour.

So yes, I'd welcome an Automated FB box, with one word of caution. It should be crystal clear that an Auto-FB has only been left because neither side in the transaction has left their own FB and if either side does leave FB the Auto entry will be deleted. The anti-ebid chorus have accused ebiders of fiddling their FB figures in the past and if there is any ambiguity they will use it as another stick to use against the site.

Go to my feedback and then click on "View/Edit what you've said" and, at the bottom of the page it says "Total Feedbacks" - odd plural that -shouldn't it be feedsback? ;-)

I can say that I do MUCH prefer having voluntary feedback when it is left. However, when it is not left there is not only no feedback but also no showing of a sale having been made which I think affects the Sellers and eBid in the long haul.

I think I have left feedback for every transaction I have made on eBid but when my feedback is looked at by others I doubt that most of them look at the feedback I have left and think about that was a sale or transaction on eBid or even really notice the feedback number left.

I think when feedback is checked they look at our POSITIVE, NEUTRAL and NEGATIVE %s in the top section of our feedback page which is controlled by the buyer and that is all that is prominently shown and also only the voluntary feedback portion of sales made.

I have seen where a sales counter has been ask for many times and has not seemed to have much impact on our need for actual amount of sales. This was just an idea I had for trying to give another angle at reaching the need and thanks for any pro or con suggestions made.

Thanks Madelaine, it turns out that I've been left 38 / 52 -- Not quite as bad as my 50% guesstimate. But still not so good as on the other site where most buyers still do leave me FB.

In reply to Ropegg. I agree with you, anything that shows the total amount of sales a seller has made can only help the seller and the site in the longer term.

My first purchase on the craft / vintage site was expensive and the seller didn't have many FBs. I was in two minds whether to risk buying glass from an apparently in-experienced seller. Then I saw their successful transaction number was over 100. That made all the difference, 100+ transactions without a single neutral or neg. does look a lot better than (say) 38 positives.

ANYTHING that gives buyers extra confidence in a seller can only have a positive outcome.

And when numbers of buyers leaving FB is in decline it become more of a necessity than ever.
