The top one is indeed a French bayonet of WW1 vintage.
Bottom one looks arabic, and is definitely a dagger!

Can't wait to hear the results of the inquiry!! I'd agree - sell, and donate money to charity, if you wish. It might not be a happy ending if a bunch of kids found them in the future.

Update :

Liverpool Museum not intrested in the dagger - even if dagger was offered as a donation.

Cato Crane Auctioneers : Just rang me, looking at photos they think its Persian dagger approx.19th century and even in its condition have valued it around £100-£200.

So its off to Cato Crane Auctioneers when I can arrange it.

Little update:

Been to Cato Crane Auctioneers, with the Dagger & Bayonet

They confirmed that the bayonet is in deed a WW1 French rifle bayonet valued around £20-30, and the Persian dagger is approx.19th century and valued it around £100-£200.

They will be going to auction either 19th Aug or late Sept. with all the profit going to the Girl Guides

I will let you know the time, date and the lot number if you want to watch via the internet
