    I suspect there are few of us who'd remember it! I first heard it from my mother, during the period when I was making the language transition. I found it very confusing as there were only two motorised vehicles in the village (a small car and a hearse), so all deliveries were by horse and cart. An uncle had the coal round and would place me on one of the pair of horses pulling that cart and let me ride around the village, much to my mother's annoyance. For a while I thought that "beggar" was an outrider.
