I have not met this at all in the Forums, yet. I suppose saying that has sealed my fate!

I hate "captcha" in general. Virginmedia is fond of using it when I sign into my email. If I make a slip here they than bombard me with photographs of Fire Hydrants (U.S. ones, of course), steps, cycles and all sorts of nonsense.

"I am not a number! I am a -------!" (Fill in the blanks to suit yourself, unless you're a robot!

We've had to deal with a couple of DDOS attacks since the beginning of the month. We are happy to say that the site was able to withstand the attacks unlike our first attack a while ago but at times of high security there may be a Captcha to be processed. This should be a one off for a period of few hours or until we are able to lower our security level back to normal.

Sorry to hear you have been having that hassle again and thanks for the explanation. Now that we know there's a reason for it I'm sure we won't mind clicking on a few zebra crossings and school buses if we know it's keeping eBid safe !

It's the lack of communication these days that is rather frustrating, even if you are too busy to spend much time on the forums can't we at least have the eBid newsletter back once a month to let us know of any developments or problems ? It would also remind people that eBid is still alive and kicking !

I realised that the security level had been raised when I started getting the "Please wait while we check your browser....." message. But what is a DDOS attach?

Is it something we should be looking out for and reporting if we see symptoms?

Distributed Denial of Service = the intentional paralysing of a computer network by flooding it with data sent simultaneously from many individual computers.

Gazza I'm now being plagued with captchas every time I try to search. I can list and edit, it's just searches [ been for the last week or so]- I'm worried if others get this it may put buyers off . Support ticket sent. Hoping you're not one of the companies being plagues by the hackers again
