    Default Extinct Payment Options Removal

There are still many references to PPPay on the site and in the help files. Also, is Skrill still relevant?

Suggest a site wide trawl to get rid of any references to extinct payment options.

One of the first things I noticed after coming back following a break. Doesn't fill me with confidence at all.

Credit where it's due, I reported this on Saturday and the references I reported were removed. I guess just report them using the contact support options and it will get fixed.

The FAQ were updated to let users know about the changes many months ago, we did not remove the actual entries in order to allow users to know about the changes and the withdrawal of the services instead of guessing what had happened.

    Thx,

Gazza, sorry to respectfully disagree with the decision not to remove the actual extinct entries.

The FAQ section, Help section, and all areas of eBid should be internally consistent, and reflect the current payment systems.

The update thread for eBid changes could be used to inform all site users of the changes. Leaving extinct information in key locations will tend to raise more questions and concerns.

Agree (also respectfully) with all you say.

Even if it was seen as a valid choice at the time both (PPPay/Skrill) were removed as selectable payment option over a year ago. Anyone who was around then would, by now, know that they are no longer an option. The references now only serve to confuse newer users:

"How to I use PPPay?" "You can't!"

"How do I use Skrill?" "You can't!"

"How do I get payment delivered by a Dodo?" "You can't!"

If you follow that logic then why is payment using Google not still there telling you that you can't use it anymore?

It is good to see that they have, at last, removed the references to the extinct payment options from the bottom of most eBid pages. A partial win.

And old/long time users returning after a break! Took me a while to get up to speed after seeing the confusing references everywhere.

I actually pointed them to this thread after they confirmed they updated the tooltip I mentioned earlier. Looks like reporting things via the contact methods on the site would be more likely to yield results than just bringing it up on the forums.

This is a suggestions forum. Anything posted here admin can take, leave or totally ignore - though it would be nice to believe that they actually read it.

If there is an issue that affects site security or the basic functioning of the site then I would normally email admin direct purely because such issues are time critical. I don't believe emailing admin with any and every non major issue would be a productive use of their time.

Yes, the issue this thread raised (not for the first time) bugged me but it did not prevent the site working. Therefore I put it forward as a suggestion rather than a 'glitch' or show stopping problem.
