Thread: Postage costs for overseas charity sales

  1. #1

Default Postage costs for overseas charity sales

    Hi everyone.
For many years now I have given FREE carriage for all my charity auctions, however I am no longer in a position to be able to cover all the cost for larger items going overseas. So rather than not make them available to overseas buyers I will have to start charging a small amount towards this cost. I hope this does not annoy anyone. I will still make smaller items available for overseas with the FREE carriage.
At present I will continue to offer FREE carriage to all UK charity auction listings.

I've been thinking along these lines as well.

With husband retiring next year and income being somewhat less than now, it won't be as easy to offer free shipping as Mel states above.

Mel, I don't know why anyone would be annoyed. You have been exceedingly generous for a long time with covering the shipping fees. "Life Happens" and we have to go with the flow.

As a pensioner I too cannot afford to offer free shipping, here or international.

    Mel, (and everyone)
International shipping is expensive - and I don't think many folk these days can afford to post overseas, especially for larger and heavier items.

You have a kind and generous heart, and list lots for all charities, and I'm sure that our overseas YDC pals would be happy to contribute towards your postage costs. xxx

Thanks for the replies. I have already listed a few items for this months charity all of which I have listed with free carriage world wide. I have more items to list that are larger and will have to have a percentage of the carriage charge made to our overseas bidders.

I just cannot work out overseas postage. I usually end up not charging enough or too much (which i do refund) I just get so flummoxed by it all

For my normal auctions I have overseas postage listed if I make the items available for overseas, it's just that in the past I have given free postage on all my charity YDC auctions worldwide. These are the ones that will from future have a small charge.

I certainly understand. There comes a time when "charity has to start at home"----I don't mean that selfishly but when we donate the price of shipping on top of the item it can get to be more than we can afford.

I try to list light weight items but they cost too.

I'll try to get my items up next week and look forward to seeing what each one lists.

If the seller is taking money out of pocket and ending up in a negative to sell something, then it really doesn't make sense at all.
