Thread: Migration from ebay has changed my dispatch time

  1. #1

Default Migration from ebay has changed my dispatch time

I've not checked extensively, but I've noticed each of my items that I've looked at show as dispatch next day. This surprises and worries me.

Early this month I migrated many items from ebay, where I normally list with 2 day dispatch time. Admittedly I do normally get to the PO by the next day, but I prefer not to raise my buyers' hopes too high. I migrated by exporting to Turbo Lister, then from there into Ninja.

So it seems that somewhere in the process the dispatch time is being changed?

I'll do a bulk edit eventually, but I'll leave the listings alone for now in case investigation is desired.

ps: there are less than a dozen items that were already listed, not part of the migration. Of course those do show as dispatch 2 days.

Are they showing as next day in NL after import but before upload OR only after upload from NL?

    Thx,

Have the condition of items imported correctly?

    https://www.ebid.net/uk/for-sale/oki...-173762259.htm

The title and description would lead to the belief that the item is working, but buried in the details it states Not Working or Parts.

Not sure why you say it would lead to that belief. The condition (not buried in the details) shows as Not Working or Parts, as you say.

Actually, more important, a field that doesn't seem to have been imported (the ebay 'seller notes' field, which over there is visible quite prominently) sheds much more light: “Untested, except to power on and press a few buttons. Probably works, but I don't have an easy way to test it.”

    Gazza, why hasn't that imported?

I'll fire up NL and report back. It's on a Win10 pc which I don't have convenient access to right now.

ps: Mel, many thanks for looking and investigating.

    Title: Cheap to run

    Description: Economical running costs.

Both would imply that the item is working. If it is not working then running costs are pretty irrelevant as it is not running.

If the section you state is missing does specify the actual condition then fine if it were showing. As is the status of the item is ambiguous in my view.

I was merely flagging that up to you. You don't seem to be very appreciative of that so I will not bother in future.

Hey, Mel, don't get all offended. Indeed, before you posted I'd already edited my post explicitly: "ps: Mel, many thanks for looking and investigating".

It all depends, in forums, on the tone of voice we read things.

I admit I was more focussed on how to address the little issues I'm having listing.

It's useful to see it through someone else's eyes. With my own eyes I'd view such an auction as "Oh, ok, so if I fix it, THEN it'll be cheap to run, so this is really going to be worth fixing". But I take your point, indeed so many people these days seem to buy without reading anything at all, one should make every effort to guard against misunderstandings. I've made a note to review that listing -- I'm not going to make any changes right now because I don't want to risk interfering with investigation Gazza might do.

Actually, it came as a big surprise that anyone would bother to look at any of my listings, a big and very nice surprise. Thank you.

[insert humourous light-hearted comment to lift the mood... damn, I can't think of one. ]

They're all showing in Ninja as Next Day. So I've looked at Turbo Lister -- here there doesn't seem to be any column for that or even any way to display such a column. Maybe I should have done something different when pulling my auctions from ebay into TL?

Anyhow, without suggesting NL be upgraded to use telepathy, I guess this is one to close out (and another time I'll know that I have to adjust this). Presumably I can globally change that in NL and upload the auctions again and they'd override the current settings? Or I could just use Bulk Edit.

Talking of Bulk Edit, I've figured out how to use it for e.g. all my listings that include a certain word in the title. But I can't see a way to select ALL my listings. How do I do that?

    Hi John,

IIRC "Dispatch Time" is one available to us when importing into NL but I will make some checks anyway as to what is happening to your 2 day value.

In the mean time you can change one listing in NL manually and then use the right-click "COPY TO ALL" option to quickly copy the value of a single field to all listings within the current auction set.

Thanks Gazza. I did it earlier today with Bulk Edit. Although I couldn't figure out how one selects all ones listings, instead I selected all that included BIN and set them all to 2 day dispatch.

Though for items that are local collection only I guess there's no point in having a dispatch time, it's up to the buyer.
