FYI warning about fake email

I received an email from a "potential" buyer of one of my listed items. It stated the "buyer" did not have a problem with the price, wanted to pay by check and have a third party pick up the item. I logged into eBid and discovered there wasn't a question posted on that item so I did not respond to the link provided in the email. I recently read about this scam being used on a relatively new website that opened to sell items locally.

I think you did the right thing.

Cheque on collection eh, third party eh, as genuine as the African Prince that wants to make me rich, but will cost me £200 as a deposit.

Yes, thanks for the warning. But isn't it great to know that eBid is becoming sufficiently well known that scammers are sniffing around? First a DDoS attack on the site, and now scam emails.

And watch out for ones that take you to a fake sign in page. I've had those on ebay, doubtless there'll soon be some here too.
