Ignore it, close it and log-in as normal.

I was already logged in, for several days, when the error happened. I can close uk.ebid.net but on reopening the authentication error returns. Logout and login clears it. (Chrome)
I can log in another browser and it is normal (Microsoft Edge)

I get the same on chrome (use a chromebook that has only the one browser)
To use Microsoft edge I would have to dig my laptop out of a cupboard...so I am glad you did a test run for me...lol
I use google chrome a lot and with no problems. However, I do note that the url you were using started "http". It should, of course, be "https" for a secure connection. Chrome was protecting you.
No, there was some sort of error - now fixed!
