Question New Member Advice Required Electric Shredder

My electric shredder is making a huge noise but not shredding. Cleared a load of rubbish but not made any difference. Is the end? Do I bin the shredder and look for a new one - or is there a solution?

If you're talking a paper/document shredder - then it's most likely cactus! Did you allow staples to go through it? ('cause that kills them)
If you're talking green waste yard shredder/chipper - then it's most likely fixable, by the dealer or handyman?

Never had a paper shredder that lasted long, including huge office types.

I shred paper and use it for mulch on my potatoes; they seem to love cellulose.

i guess your shredding machine needs proper oiling and service. if the issue still persists then its end you should go for new one with new noise free technology and warranty.

Absolutely right! The noise is caused by a massive amount of dross in the bearings which support the rollers/cutters. If an expensive machine, have it serviced. If it's a cheap paper shredder, junk it and start again, cleaning out the new one every week and making sure the bearings are clear.
