    Default Royal Mail issues.

    Hi all,

Is it just me or has Royal Mail recently started to have problems with delivery?

I only ask as in the past couple of months i've had a number of items in the UK and overseas not arrive with the buyer.
And now i've just had a customer tell me that the item I sent them didn't arrive in the condition sent (comic in a Cardback envelope with another piece of card attached for strengthening). This is all the more aggravating as i've sent 100's of comics this same way in the UK and overseas.

So, anyone else having RM problems lately?

Nope, all my stuff has arrived fine, as far as I know, she said touching wood rapidly. I've just had feedback in for a parcel I sent off yesterday.

If anything, this last year has been better than normal. Is there anything in your feedback to indicate that you're a "soft touch" ie parcel not arrived but refunded promptly or similar? (I don't see anything on your eBid feedback but maybe another site?)

Haven't used any other site now for a few years for selling, only for buying packaging stuff etc...

As for refunding "Lost" items, I tell the buyer they need to wait the given time that Royal Mail will only consider to then be "Lost".
As for "Damaged" items (only 1 so far), that I leave up to the buyer to take up with Royal Mail as I know i've packaged it adequately. If the buyer doesn't want to do this, they can always return it but shipping would be at their own expense.
This buyer in particular could have asked for the comic to be sent a specific way, but didn't until it arrived with them. Then they said that they package differently.
Out of the 100's of comics i've sold in the UK and Overseas, this is the first to have a problem.

And thanks to all for comments

Really???? I wouldn't dream of treating my buyers in that fashion. If an item arrives damaged I take it up with Royal Mail and refund the buyer.

Anyone who states on their listings that they are not responsible for lost or damaged goods do not get my custom.

A seller is responsible until the item is delivered. Anyone who states otherwise is not complying with the law.

Absolutely right, Tony. But it is surprising how many sellers add this get-out (lack of responsibility) to their listings.

Yes really. I have done so in the past with items that i've received that were damaged. In one case I opened caught the Post Person trying to squash the package through the too-small letter box. Even then Royal Mail tried to say the item was insufficiently packaged (which it wasn't). They also require an item to be sent to them so they can inspect it.
I dealt with it as "I" had the item in my possession, and "I" was aware of the circumstances.

I do not state in any of my listings that I am not responsible for lost or damaged goods.
I do state that "Returns are accepted but at your own expence."

I package the item (a comic in a polybag) attached to a piece of corrugated card, which is then placed inside a Card-backed envelope that had "Please Do Not Bend" printed on it. Therefore the item had 2 pieces of card around it to keep it rigid, and a warning on the envelope.

Now if any comic/magazine sellers are reading this, how do you send your comics?
